It is said that if you carve your name on people's hearts, not tombstones, a legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.

To me that exemplifies Gary Howard and the Celebration of Life put together by the Kontinentals Car Club, of which Gary was a member.

In my mind it will always be Gary's enthusiasm--sure he had "the eye" and was a perfectionist that would take as long as it took to finish a project right, and his body of work speaks for itself, but even knowing his days were numbered he was still always excited! A shop visit would inevitably lead to showing off some paint spray outs for future projects or the latest modifications he had performed and his only complaint would ever be that he "just can't work as much as he used to or wanted to"

It was a perfect fall day in the quaint Hill Country town of Albert, Texas for family, friends and fans of Gary to gather, reminisce, and view some of his iconic custom creations.

Friends came from all corners of Texas as well as Oklahoma and even California, every two feet I ran into someone I hadn't seen in too long and it was great catching up----so much so that I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked.

The Kontinentals, ever a class act, also co-ordinated an auction and raffle to benefit Gary's family, and long time friend and customer, Jimmie Vaughn, entertained with live music and donated a guitar to the auction.
