The 8th Annual Meltdown Drags rolled into Byron Dragway in Illinois with high expectations and the gods of vintage drag racing did not disappoint.
Once again Paul Zielsdorf, Eric Koopmeiners and there band of volunteers managed to pull off an incredible event that will have you saying “oh shit, check that out” at every turn, whether you’re walking the pits, checking out the car show area and swap or most importantly, watching the action on the strip. The best part is that this is all for the fun of it, all for the experience, and what an experience it is. The Meltdown has quickly grown in size and reputation and has to be considered one of, if not thee, best vintage drag racing events going. This is as close to going back in time as you’ll get without the need for a Flux Capacitor…lol. Put the’18 Meltdown Drags on your must attend list. Cars from 40+ states and spectators from across the country and beyond can’t be wrong.
