John Barnes old 36
Out Takes from 13-4 Calori roadster
John "rockabilly jesus" Barnes 36 3 window
If you've gotten the new issue theres no doubt you've looked at the feature on Billy Crewels Calori clone. Looming in the background of some of the sots your eyes are sent to the rough little 36. I liked having all the extra cars in there for placement and for esthetics of the shoot for the magazine but wanted to touch on all of them . this 36 belongs to our friend John Barnes in Orange California. He has owned it a number of years and we just love it . Its a car any of us would just jump in and drive anywhere it would take us . No need to worry about too many door dings or awkward parking . Truly a fun car do cruise and has style for days . Its pretty mild in the custom department for the most part but fits with its early 40s styling down to the last bolt. Just a haircut and a few options and this thing is perfection. Resting between the frame rails to power it is a 21 stud with original cyclone heads. Its been dropped via drilled front axle and spring in the back. The crusty old National flippers and other trinkets keep it all in the same feel. nothing looks out of place and is a huge lesson in restraint. If he had done paint or plating on anything it would just look out of place. We love this car and it fits so well with the Calori roadster as jack himself had a 36 in the same spectrum seen on the lakes racing and pushing cars .
