Gambinos's Sit down.

The Sit Down

By Tim Sutton

Well i finally got off my ass. Alex has been asking me for 8 years to come up to the Sit Down, I feel like a complete ass that I hadn't made it before this years , which could in fact be the last . Alex for the past years has pulled some of the most influential kustom cars of our time to his corner of San Jose , Ca. This year didn't disappoint at all, some old some new some yellow some blue.  A great variation of kustom cars from the mild to wild as well as early up to the mid sixties. there was something there for everyone. Among the car there was plenty to do and see as the sounds of live music filled the air and the smell of fresh BBQ tickled the nose hairs.

I think the furthest drive was from our friends from the great white north in this stunning Mildly customized fleetline Chevrolet . Its is clean, tindy, and simple which makes a great car for me . The color as you can see is super spot on with a factory chevy color adding to its elegance. The Bumper guard taillights help clean up the ass end and make it perfect. The boys , damnit I can't remember their names were super nice and had a great time traveling down for the HOP UP release party the night before at Top Notch Customs and then heading onto Gambinos the next day.

Wilhelms Wild Dream, AMBR winner, was out for a glance. Absolutely amazing show rod from 64.

Wild Dream is a show rod designed and built by Joe Wilhelm at Wilhelm's Custom Shop for John Hernandez. Built over a three year period, the wild rod featured a futuristic hand formed aluminum body that was covered with 20 coats of purple metalflake paint. A chrome plated chassis was constructed from rectangular tubing. The chassis featured full coil suspension. Power was delivered by a fuel injected 1960 Chevrolet Corvette 283 cu. in. engine, a 1961 Chevrolet four speed transmission and a 1956 Mercury rear end.  (source , kustomorama.com)

Tons of donated items and Art were raffled off throughout the day . Scott Mugford I think got just about everything accept the bottle of crown. It pays to play y'all , I love a raffle yet didn't have a willer even though my dyslexia said I did for one prize. One too many zeros ........ damnit better luck next time. Proceeds were donated to charity so everyone won really.

All and all if you haven't been or you've been but haven't been back and Alex asks you to go or whatever just get your asses to the sit-down and support custom cars , I don't wanna see what we saw in the 70s and 80s happen again!!!!!!

Thank you for all the hospitality Alex and Nacho!!!!! we will be back
